The short version
The AutoFilter extension collects no personal data. It makes no network requests, has no analytics or tracking, and has no servers. Your filter choices stay on your device.
What the extension reads
Only on AutoTrader UK search results pages (autotrader.co.uk/car-search), AutoFilter looks at the listing cards already shown in your tab. On each card it checks for:
- AutoTrader's price label (Great, Good, Fair, Higher or Lower price).
- AutoTrader's “You may also like” marker.
- An insurance write-off category badge (Cat A, B, C, D, S or N).
It uses this only to decide which cards to hide, inside your browser. It doesn't save what it reads, and it doesn't read forms, your AutoTrader account or any other site.
What it stores on your device
Two settings, kept in Chrome's local extension storage on this device:
- Your filter choices: which labels and switches are on, and whether filtering is on or paused.
- Your popup theme, light or dark.
These aren't sent anywhere and aren't synced to your other devices.
What it sends
Nothing. The extension makes no network requests of its own: no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking.
Permissions
AutoFilter asks for storage (to save your settings) and access to AutoTrader search results pages (to read and hide listing cards). The permissions table explains each one.
Third parties
The extension shares nothing with anyone. AutoFilter is independent and isn't affiliated with Auto Trader Limited; your use of autotrader.co.uk is covered by AutoTrader's own privacy policy.
This website
This site has no cookies, analytics or tracking. Its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which see your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.
If you choose to send feedback from the page shown after uninstalling, your answers are sent to our form provider so we can read them. Please don't include personal details you don't want to share.
Retention and deletion
Removing the extension deletes its stored settings from your device. Feedback and emails you send us are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. The extension holds none; if you've emailed us or sent feedback, contact us and we'll help.
